Phyllis Eaton
Bailey
Sep 19, 1929 — Mar 14, 2024
Phyllis Eaton Bailey, age 94, passed into her eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, at NHC Healthcare in Oak Ridge, TN. Born in Portland, Maine, she was the loving daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth Eaton.
After graduating from Portland High School, she married her late husband, John Allen Bailey, Jr in 1948.
Their lives would take them to Massapequa, NY, where John taught art until 1982. Phyllis enjoyed singing in the choir of Seaford Baptist Church and lovingly took care of the weekly flower arrangements for the church. They would return to South Portland, Maine in 1982 where she went to work as a bank teller for many years, until her retirement. She continued to enjoy singing by joining the choir at First Baptist Church of Portland, Maine.
Phyllis will always be remembered by her family as the world's greatest lasagna maker that family still talks about to this day. When family was up to visit during the summers, you could find Phyllis at the lake picking blueberries on the family island.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, John A. Bailey, III (Laurie) of Sussex NJ and Peter C. Bailey (Kathy) of Knoxville, TN. Along with grandchildren Christopher Bailey (Shawnna) of Andover, NJ; and Kathy Kosco (Andrew) of Hardyston, NJ. Phyllis was also blessed with two beautiful great granddaughters, Cassidy E. Bailey and Aria P. Kosco; along with several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, John; her daughter, Patricia Elaine Bailey; a brother, Lynedon Eaton; and a sister, Dorathea Eaton.
