Raymond P. Neveu

1938-2025

SOUTH PORTLAND-- Raymond P. Neveu Senior, 86, passed away on March 10, 2025.  Born September 28, 1938, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, he was the son of Adela and Emile Neveu.  A first-generation American of French-Canadian descent, his Catholic faith was central to his life.  He married Diane on August 28, 1961.  They had six children: Ray Junior, John, Robert, Paul, Alan, and Anne.

Ray earned a PhD in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh and was a professor, notably at the University of Southern Maine for 20 years.  He also became a forensic economist and authored "Fundamentals of Managerial Finance." He loved boating, running, jazz, and was a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

Ray is survived by his wife Diane, six children, fourteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 20th, 4:00-7:00 PM at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 21st, 10:00 AM at St. Bartholomew Church in Cape Elizabeth, reception to follow.
