Rebecca “Becky” L. Bailey, 38, passed away peacefully at her home in Saco, Maine on May 23, 2026. Born in Portland, Maine on October 1, 1987, daughter to Bradford R. and Sharon M. (Andrews) Thompson, Becky brought warmth, laughter, and compassion to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Becky was raised in southern Maine and attended schools in Cape Elizabeth before continuing her education at Southern Maine Community College and the University of Maine at Farmington. She dedicated nearly 20 years of her life to working as a childcare provider, where her patience, kindness, and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on countless children and families. Caring for others came naturally to Becky, and she was happiest when helping those around her feel loved and supported.
She was known for her unmistakable laugh, her enormous heart, and her deep love for animals. Becky adored her adopted cat, Murphy, and had a lifelong fascination with tigers and all animals great and small.
Some of Becky’s happiest memories were made riding in her parents’ antique Jeep, taking scenic drives through Acadia National Park - a place so special to her that she and her husband chose it as part of their honeymoon. Becky treasured Maine’s natural beauty and found peace and joy along its rocky coastlines and winding roads.
Becky met the love of her life, Daniel, at Portland Ice Arena after being introduced by a mutual friend. Their connection quickly blossomed into a beautiful partnership built on love, friendship, and laughter. They were married on September 15, 2018, and shared many cherished years together. Becky and Daniel also enjoyed spending time together attending Portland Sea Dogs and Maine Mariners games, making many happy memories cheering on their favorite teams.
Becky will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the joy she brought into every room, and the lasting difference she made in the lives of the children and families she cared for. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel; her parents; her brother, Christopher (Rebecca) Thompson; many dear friends; and her beloved cat, Murphy.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12pm on Thursday, June 4th at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will follow at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Hollis.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Becky’s love for animals, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland - where she found and adopted Murphy - https://arlgp.org/donate/make-a-donation/
