Richard Reno, known to friends as "Dick," 76, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at his home in Cape Elizabeth. He was born on September 03, 1948, in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late George and Ruth Reno.

Dick graduated from Manchester Memorial High School and shortly thereafter, married his high school sweetheart Margaret "Peggy" Jennings in 1969. He went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire and enlisted as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana during the Vietnam Era.

Following the birth of their son, the couple returned to New England, purchasing their first home in Cape Elizabeth, where they lived for over 50 years. Dick worked various jobs before establishing a career in the cable industry with Time Warner Cable, where he remained until retirement. Peggy and Dick recently celebrated 55 years of marriage, building a life rich in love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Dick was a devoted family man, always placing the happiness and well-being of his loved ones above all else. Known for his humor, he could light up any room and bring laughter to those around him. He treasured countless sunsets at Cross Lake, shared with the love of his life and family.

An enthusiastic bowler, Dick spent many years bowling on a team with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, and even achieved a high score of 299. He enjoyed traveling to participate in USBC Open Tournaments, unfazed by the occasional "taps" he encountered. Dick was also a passionate video gamer, known for his love of Borderlands, and a huge fan of the NY Giants, Celtics, and Yankees. Gardening was another joy of his, especially pulling dandelions—even from his neighbors' yards.  As a history buff, he relished displaying his knowledge, especially during Jeopardy!'s final rounds. Christmas was his favorite time of year; he delighted in finding that perfect gift and loved adding his own twist to the celebrations. He was known for making his family solve clever riddles to uncover their 'big gift' and always managed to have the last laugh at family Yankee swaps.

Dick was a friend to all, a beloved neighbor, and always the first to lend a helping hand. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be missed profoundly by everyone who knew him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Peggy, their children, Mathew & Maureen Reno of Derry, NH and Stephanie & Ryan Thebarge of Windham, ME. His one and only grandchild, Satori "Ash" Reno, whom he adored deeply. Their time together was filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of love that only a grandfather can give. He took pride in every accomplishment and cherished each moment. He also leaves behind his brother George and sister Ruthie and their families; many nieces and nephews, and his cat, Meowie.

A service to celebrate Dick's life will be held on November 7th at 10am, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 8 Two Lights Rd, Cape Elizabeth ME 04107. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society to support cancer research.
