Obituary

Richard Sherwood Sullivan aka " Sully " 82 of Buxton passed away on the night of Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Gosnell Hospice Facility.

Born on October 23, 1941, to Howard Sullivan Sr and Hazel MacLennan, he was the fourth of nine children.

Sully is a South Portland graduate. He would often reminisce of his time in the Navy, working the flight deck on the USS Enterprise and USS Independence as he assisted in getting planes in the air.  After the Navy he embarked in a lifelong career in trucking and knew how to get where you were going before you even knew you were going there.

He took great pride in his home that he had built by hand with the help of his friends and family.  He had a great love for dogs i.e. Mariah, Bailey and Jade just to name a few.  HIs garage was meticulously clean and organized, and every tool, screw and nail were always in its place.

Sully had big energy and you would always know when he was in the room.  He wasn't shy to share his opinion.  You'd know when he started to like you with a little zing zing to show his love.  Some felt more love than others.  Even through disagreements, he would stop everything to help you!   He will be greatly missed!

He is survived by his oldest daughter Leighann Morgan and his son in law Brendan Sweeney of Scarborough,  his youngest daughter Riley Southard of Buxton and her mom Michelle Southard, grandchildren Madelyne Morgan and Trevor Morgan of South Portland and siblings; Gloria Tibbets of South Portland, Donna Walters of Indianapolis, Michael Sullivan of Arrowsic, Catherine Underwood of Bath, Brian Sullivan of Buffalo, John Sullivan of Arrowsic, many close nieces, nephews and cousins, neighbors, two former wives, and a multitude of friends.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Timothy Sullivan of Arrowsic and Howard Sullivan Jr of Gorham.
