Robert Meyer

With excellent care, in the company of his daughter, Robert (Bob) Meyer of Randolph, Maine, age 91, passed on March 22, 2023 at Togus Springs Hospice, Augusta, Maine.  The oldest of three active boys, he was born in Montevideo, Minnesota on February 20, 1932 to Sylvester and Anna Lindquist Meyer.  He attended schools in Montevideo and graduated from Dunwoody Technical School in Minneapolis with a mechanic's degree.  Bob shared that on his first day of primary school, his mother walked him to the one-room schoolhouse, where he promptly ran out the back door, arriving home before his mother.  Yes, she marched him back!

Bob served as an aviation mechanic in the Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1956.  He loved telling stories of his service in Cuba.  At times, he rode with the pilot of a two-seater F6 Hell Cat, trailing practice targets for ships to shoot at.  His last duty station was in Brunswick, Maine, where he met the love of his life, Priscilla. They married November 25, 1955. Priscilla had two small children, Ricky and Judy, which he adopted and became a great father and later, a grandfather. With a smile, Judy likes to share the childhood memory of her Dad making peanut butter fudge.  He put red food coloring in it and told us that he'd cut his finger.  Undaunted, we ate it!

Bob worked as a machinist most of his life and took great pride in the precision skill of his trade.  Bob seemingly never sat still. He could be found working on his car or lawn, painting, and doing house repairs. If it was broken, he wanted to fix it.  Much to the horror of his neighbors, in his 80's, he could be found climbing on his porch rail to remove bothersome acorns from his roof.

Priscilla Meyer

With excellent care, in the company of her husband Bob, Priscilla (Pat) Lorraine Meyer, age 81, of Randolph, Maine passed on January 25, 2011 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, Maine.  She was born in South Portland, Maine, July 28, 1929 to Marion and Ernest Clark.  She attended schools in South Portland, Maine and later in life earned an LPN degree, something on her bucket list. She retired from the Gray Birch Nursing Home, Augusta, Maine in 1993.  Priscilla enjoyed her family, knitting, crocheting, sewing and helping Bob with the house.  Judy still holds the Minnesota memories of picnics by the silo and her mom making an igloo-shaped snow fort, complete with an oil barrel fireplace!

Bob and Priscilla, best friends, were together for 56 years.  They enjoyed camping, bingo, the horse races and were especially proud of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren -  reasons for Priscilla to knit! They will share the same urn and be buried at the Forest City Cemetery in South Portland, Maine on May 20th, 2023, where there will be a private graveside service.

Richard Meyer

Also to be remembered is their son, Richard (Ricky) Stanley Meyer. He was born January 3, 1950 in South Portland, Maine.  In July of 1989, at age 39, Ricky was reported as a missing person from a Colorado campground.  Though his camper remained with clothes on the line, he was never found.  He graduated with honors from South Portland High School in 1969.  Upon graduation, he joined the Navy.  Following his Naval discharge, he earned an electrical degree from Southern Maine Vocational Tech, a trade sparked by his junior high science club days.  He later earned a Master's License.  Ricky's children, Christi and step-son Craig, were a source of pride.  In a cherished family letter, Ricky wrote "I do love my children."   Along with Ricky, missing are also the memories that were yet to be created.

Bob and Priscilla are survived by their daughter, Judy Washuk and husband Matthew; Bob's brother Jack Meyer and wife Jay; grandchildren Kathryn Skelton and husband Israel, Christi Meyer, Craig Bailey and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special neighbors, Doug and Mary Hall. Lastly, not to forget Annie, Judy's dog and Bob's best medicine, who was treated every morning to bran flakes that were "accidentally" dropped under the kitchen table.  Her antics during nursing visits were a constant source of amusement.  Bob, Priscilla and Ricky, sadly missed on earth, are now united in Heaven.
