Obituary

Robert Stephen Hall passed away on October 6, 2025. He was 78 years old and a longtime resident of Scarborough. He had struggled in recent years with Parkinson's and had advanced more quickly in the last year.

He was born in Portland, Maine on October 31, 1946. He graduated in 1965 from South Portland High School and got his college degree in Education and History from University of Maine in Farmington in 1969.

He enjoyed many hobbies that included, woodworking, reading, genealogy, and in early years shooting guns at the range. He had a love of history. He loved to find bargains while out shopping. He had booths at Cliff's Antiques with his wife and helped her with her crafting business. His woodworking was especially helpful for this.

He worked at Bancroft and Martin, Megquier and Jones, American Steel & Aluminum, Bushmaster Firearms, and East Coast Steel. He worked for Unum for 15 years before retirement.

He served the Maine Army National Guard for 22 years. He was a member of the Scarborough Lions Club. In his retirement he volunteered as President of Black Point Cemetery. He also made birdhouses to sell to raise money for a local food pantry.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy How of 56 years, and his two sons, Brian David Hall and his wife, Jessica of Standish and Daniel Timothy Hall of Scarborough. He was predeceased by his parents, Audrey May Bodecker and Edward Joseph Hall, Jr. Also predeceased a sister Jean who died at birth and a brother Edward who died as a young child. He will be greatly missed, but grateful he is at peace.

Funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 13th at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
