Robert "Bob" C. Wright, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Scarborough, Maine, on May 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born on September 10, 1938, at his childhood home in Greenfield, Maine, to Albion and Beatrice Wright. One of three children, he spent his early years exploring the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and reading his favorite author, Zane Grey. He survived the polio epidemic of the 1940s, which helped shape his resilient, kind, and compassionate nature.

After graduating from Old Town High School in 1957, Bob began working as a machinist at T.M. Chapman. His technical skill and dedication led to his recruitment by the State of Maine to help train future machinists at the newly opened Pratt & Whitney facility in North Berwick. Once the training program concluded, the company recognized his exceptional talent and offered him a leadership role.

Bob's versatility and commitment to excellence led him through several key positions at Pratt & Whitney, ultimately serving as an industrial engineer and financial analyst. His passion for efficiency and innovation in jet engine component manufacturing contributed to the company's emergence as a world-class leader in the industry. He remained with Pratt & Whitney until his retirement in 2001.

Bob married the love of his life, Nancy (Bouchard) Wright, in 1959. Together, they built a life centered around family and faith. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a gentle, hands-on grandfather to his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events brought him great joy. In his free time, he enjoyed boating and helping family with their many projects. In retirement, he and Nancy traveled the country in their beloved motorhome for 20 years, embracing their love of exploration and learning.

Beyond his technical excellence, Bob will be remembered as a humble and service-minded leader—always generous with his time, guidance, and support. Whether mentoring others or quietly solving problems behind the scenes, he consistently placed the needs of others above his own. He also had a remarkable sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. Bob could find light in any situation, and his quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners often left family, friends, and colleagues in fits of uncontrollable laughter. His laughter was contagious, and his joy had a way of lifting everyone around him.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy; his children Gary (Susan) Wright of California, Susan (Richard) Michaud of Scarborough, and Bruce (Julie) Wright of Saco; his grandchildren Shane, Dustin (Amy), Andrew (Ashley), Danielle (Geoffrey), Patrick (Katharine), Jacinta (Anthony), Evan, and Eli; and his great-grandchildren Alaina, Kayden, Karter, and Reagan. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric; his parents; his older brother, Vaughn; and his younger sister, Bette.

Bob was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. A reception will follow immediately in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Southern Maine.
