Russell K. Lunt Sr., 66, of South Portland, passed away on June 23 in Portland from a brief illness. Russell was born in Portland on May, 13 1958, son of Kenneth F. Lunt Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Lunt. He attended South Portland schools. He met the love of his life Sherre N. Maynard in 1989 and they were together for 35 years. Russell attended SMVTI for two years for automotive. He worked for the City of South Portland Public Works for 34 years. Russell attended all South Portland city council meetings for 12 years and was called by many the "8th Councilor". He enjoyed posting photographs of Portland Headlight and other scenic pictures to local TV stations and social media.

Russell is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his life partner Sherre N. Maynard, his son Russell K. Lunt Jr. (Tracie) whom he was very proud of, sister Toby Simpson (Fred), brother Thomas Lunt (Mary), brother James Lunt (Michelle), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 1 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at 10:00a.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, with a burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Portland. A reception will be held that day at 12:00p.m. at the Elizabeth Hobbs Hospitality Center.
