Obituary

Sandra Lee Dudley, 74, of Portland, Maine passed away February 6, 2024 with her husband Mahlon "Dud" Dudley by her side. Sandra, lovingly referred to as "Sandy", "San", "Mom", and "Nana", was born April 28, 1949, in Portland, Maine to Manderville and Teresa Ludden.  She was a graduate of Portland High School and the University of Southern Maine.

Most of Sandy's working years were spent at Maine Medical Center.  She was a dedicated employee with the majority of her career spent in the Open Heart Room and Cath Lab.

Sandy met Dud in the early 1980's and they quickly became inseparable.  Together they raised three children, Danny, Val and Keith.   After their grown children were married, Sandy and Duddy decided to tie the knot.  They were married on February 17, 1996.

Sandy enjoyed music, singing, dancing, puzzles, reading fiction books, the sun and beach, traveling, cats, and watching football and TV Crime Shows (especially Law and Order).  But most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren with all of heart and soul.

Sandy was a one of a kind person.  Rough around the edges, but a heart of gold on the inside.  She was passionate and loved fiercely.  If she didn't agree with you, she didn't hesitate to let you know. She was always the first person to offer encouragement and let you know how proud she was to be your mom, sister, Nana, and friend.

Sandy was pre-deceased by her parents, Manderville G. and Teresa Ludden and brother-in-law, Lawrence Murak.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Dud, of more than 35 years; daughter Valerie Mendolia and husband Mark; sons Daniel Dudley and his wife Jen, Keith Dudley and his wife Michele; and grandsons Collin Dudley and his wife Christine, Garrett Dudley, Jeremy Coneglio, Anthony Mendolia, Vincent Dudley, Max Mendolia; granddaughters Gianna Dudley, Ava Dudley, Lily Mendolia and Olivia Dudley and great-grandson Beckham Dudley.

Sandy is also survived by her sisters: Pamela Doughty, Kathy Kramer, and Debra Scott and her husband David, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Per Sandy's request, there will be no service and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy's family requests donations to be made in her name to Susan G. Komen of New England – Breast Cancer Research   at https://www.komen.org/community/new-england/maine/
