Sandra Palmquist, 87, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away on April 17, 2026 – exactly 4 years to the date after the passing of her beloved husband Ron Palmquist. Sandra built and shared her life with Ron for over 63 years. Her son, Jim Palmquist; and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Peter Cameron; and her grandchildren Anna Cameron, Joshua Cameron, Dan Cameron and granddaughter-in-law Kayla Cameron also mourn her.

Sandra was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised there and in Denver, Colorado. She earned her B.A. in Music from Columbia College, Missouri. One of her first jobs out of college – selling pianos - brought her to a radio station in Denver where she met her future husband who worked there. They met and married in 1958 and relocated to Maine in 1966 with Ron’s transfer to WGAN-TV.

As a multiple genre music aficionado, Sandra demonstrated her passion for music and desire to share that passion in many ways. Whether in performances or in teaching, Sandra shared her love of music through dedication, artistry, challenges and PRACTICE. Successful opportunities for students to experience community and competition have led many of her beloved students to pursue music in college and in life. For many years, gatherings of “The Schroeder Society” brought her great enjoyment as occasions beyond weekly lessons to share student progress. Weekly lessons, recitals, All State Competition preparation and many other avenues were organized and encouraged by Sandra as students honed their skills and accomplishments in music. Sandra loved and was proud of all her students – both young and adult – whom she nurtured over the last 60 years.

Sandra’s grandchildren fondly remember many visits to and by “MomMom” and “Poppop.” These visits and the time spent together at Little League games, at the beach or at the pool overcame the physical distances. When asked, her grandchildren talk about the times spent together, sharing their lives and being loved.

Sandra’s family greatly appreciates the assistance of the caregivers at Northern Light Mercy Hospital.
