Stephen R. Grovo

On December 9, 2025 he passed away at home surrounded by his family. Stephen was born June 26, 1949 in Portland, Maine to Viola (Williams) and Robert Bennett. Stephen attended South Portland Schools.

Between 1966-1970, Stephen enlisted in the Marine Corp. Stephen received a Purple Heart and Medal of Honor. Stephen worked at Hannaford Brothers as a truck driver for 20 plus years. He received the "2 Million Mile Award" for no accidents. He moved to Florida and was a warehouse manager for 10 years in Ocala, Florida. The he retired.

Stephen enjoyed fishing. He was a member of a Bass fishing club. He went out on a boat every weekend to practice for the next tournament. His favorite lake was Arrowhead to fish on. At tournament, the Shriner's would cook the food for the Fishing Clubs. Stephen rode a Harley for many years. He also did many "Toy Runs" with wife.

Stephen was predeceased by his mother Viola (Williams) Bennett, Father Robert Bennett, and sister Linda Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Sharon (Spired) Grovo of Windham, daughter Tamra Gagnon of Naples, Son Richard Grovo of Florida, three grandsons, one granddaughter, four great grandchildren, two nephews and his best friend of seventy plus years Roy Woodside of North Carolina.

There will be a graveside service at Brooklawn Memorial Park on April 28. 2026 at 11:00a.m.
