Scarborough - Steven "Steve" Eric Pemberton 56, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 after a brief illness.

Steve was born in Biddeford, Maine on March 23, 1966 to James "Tom" and Arlene Pemberton.  He graduated from Scarborough High School where he played tennis and made many lasting friendships.  He attended the University of Southern Maine.

Steve then entered a successful career in the insurance industry working at Unum, then at Sun Life  until the time of his passing.  He enjoyed helping others and worked for a short period of time with DHHS, but the insurance industry called him back.

In his spare time, Steve enjoyed every minute spent with family and friends hosting many family gatherings with the last being Halloween.  He brightened everyone's day with his irresistable smile, beautiful eyes and kind heart.  You could always see Steve holding a baby, from family members to friend's children & grandchildren, he absolutely loved them.  His other passion was sports, from coaching his sons baseball and football teams to being the biggest Miami Dolphin fan like no other, including having a Miami Dolphin themed wedding.

Steve loved Aruba and vacationed there every year for 35 years with family and friends.  He loved his time there whether there were 8 people to 40 people at any given time.  He always loved sharing his knowledge of the island as well as playing host with plenty of Balashi to share.

Steve's greatest adventure in life was his sons Eric and Austin.  He is so proud of the men they have become and knows they will take great care of their mom, his wife Kelly in his absence.  He loved them all so dearly.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Arlene Pemberton and brother, Richard "Rick" Pemberton.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years and the love of his life, Kelly (Dyer) Pemberton, sons Eric James Pemberton and Austin Colin Pemberton all of Scarborough, brother, Theodore "Ted" Pemberton and wife Danielle of Yarmouth, sisters, Patricia "Patty" Wallace and partner Clark Ward of St. Petersburg, Florida, Linda Erickson and husband Keith of Scarborough, sister-in-law Virginia (Ginny) Pemberton and partner Warren Litchfield of Scarborough and many adoring nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.  Steve was loved by all.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4-7 pm at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 US Route 1, Scarborough, Maine.
