SUSAN ROMANIELLO ARESTI

SCARBOROUGH--Susan R. Aresti, 75, of Scarborough, Maine, formerly of Jamestown, RI, passed away suddenly at home on Easter Sunday night.  She was known as a joyful, helpful person and a good friend.  Throughout her life she was involved in helping others: with the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry in Connecticut, and in various food collection drives in Connecticut and Rhode Island, and volunteering at the local library in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.  She graduated from the University of Connecticut, where she met her husband Ralph and many lifelong friends.  She enjoyed a career at the University Center for instructional Media and Technology for 33 years, and she loved cheering on the UConn girls' basketball team.  She was always seeking the perfect book and just the right gift to celebrate various occasions for friends and family.  She remembered everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions, and was always ready to give a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone and everyone.  She was the steady rock for her husband Ralph through thick and thin, and was the mother of two beautiful girls, now grown women, Maryann and Elizabeth.

She leaves Ralph, her husband of 50 years, her daughter Maryann, of South Portland, Maine, and daughter Elizabeth (Alex) of Boise, Idaho.  She also leaves many, many friends who were her joy to be with or talk on the phone with (for hours!) She will be sorely missed by her family and friends as she was a bright spot for all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough, followed by burial at Black Point Cemetery, Scarborough, and a reception at the church.
