Obituary

Tara Lindsay Kosma, born on October 8, 1974, in Connecticut, passed away on September 14th, 2025, in Portland, Maine. We shall not speak of how she died but tell you how she lived.

Tara was the youngest child and only daughter of Patricia and Richard Kosma. Tara was always a beautiful child and an avid lover of animals. She was enticed by the finer things, music, and laughter.

She grew up swimming on the shores of Maranacook Lake and after school she ran with Kelly, Carey, and the Lakeview Drive gang. There were always adventures abound; neighborhood dogs, swimming, marauding, and the petty theft of apples just to name a few.

Tara was not a stickler for convention or tradition. She found great joy in tiny lipstick samples, fine lace curtains, car dancing and laughter.
Tara never lost her curiosity and continued to seek out adventure and mystery. She went on to get her master's degree in social work and worked for many non-profits over the years. She was wonderful at her job, and her superpower was empathy. Her true-life love and passion were Roman and Gabe, her sons.

Throughout her life people were drawn to her much like an early spring flower to the sun. She rarely settled just knowing somebody on the surface, she wanted to go deeper and know what they were all about. Because of this connection she truly and fully loved the people she loved. She had quite an eclectic group of friends and those lucky enough to stay close to her learned to dance with her throughout each season. A day spent with Tara meant an evening with a face tired from smiling and songs playing in your mind, a lullaby to help your tired dancing legs find sleep.

Tara is predeceased by her grandparents, aunts, and father.

Tara's legacy of kindness and laughter is carried on by those she leaves behind. Her loving family; mother Patricia, brother Lon, cousins Elisa, Bridey, Megan, Brian, Uncle Andy, loving companion Joe, her two adopted Puerto Rican 4-legged girls Luna and Piccolo, but most of all her incredible sons, the loves of her life, Roman and Gabriel Babineau.
