Scarborough, ME - Victor Edward Kendall, 86, known as "Vic," "Dad," and "Grampa" to his family and friends, entered into heaven on August 9, 2022, after a long illness. He had recently moved with his wife of nearly 66 years, Joan (Whitcomb) Kendall, from Pinehurst, North Carolina, to Scarborough, Maine, to be near family.

Victor was born in Springfield, Vermont, September 5, 1935, to E. Hugh and Bertha (Peterson) Kendall. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1953, the University of Vermont in 1957.

Having participated in ROTC during college, he then served in the Army in El Paso, Texas, in 1959.

Over the years Victor worked in sales for paper companies, including St. Regis Paper Company, Harley Bag Company, and Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He lived in New Jersey, Idaho, California, New York, and Illinois during his career. Upon retirement in 2006, he was Vice President of Sales for Smurfit-Stone.

Victor was grateful that, by God's grace, he was sober for 43 years. When he began his life of sobriety, he drew closer to God, becoming active in the churches he attended—Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois, St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Waitsfield, Vermont, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Victor is survived by his wife Joan (Whitcomb) Kendall, whom he married in Springfield, Vermont, at St. Mary's Catholic Church September 1, 1956; his three daughters, Lisa Kendall of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lauri Damiani and her husband Nick of Scarborough, Maine, and Leslie Kendall and her husband Tom Dale of Georgetown, Colorado. He was blessed with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Tom Damiani and his wife Sveta of Chicago; Jenni Dewhurst, her husband Toby, and their 3 children, Eilish, Finn, and Aveline of Scarborough, Maine; and Dr. Michael Damiani, his wife Anne Marie, and their daughter Caroline of Cooperstown, New York.
