- Jeff Hobbs
Jeffrey Hobbs has been in the funeral business for nearly 30 years and is currently owner and president of the Hobbs Funeral Homes. He is the second generation to direct the organization.
He began learning the business from his parents, the founders of the home, Frank H. Hobbs, Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Betty) Hobbs. The company began in 1941, and serves families of all faiths. Betty Hobbs died in January of 2006 but her legacy lives on in her son, Jeffrey Hobbs, and her grandson, Jeffrey D. Inman, also a licensed funeral director, who represents the third generation of leadership at the home.
Jeff Hobbs, a native Mainer, went to South Portland High School and was graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, with a degree in history in 1975. He received his initial training in mortuary sciences from the New England Institute in Boston in 1980.
He is a member of the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club, a 25-year member of the Hiram Lodge, attends the First Congregational Church and works with other local organizations.
Jeff resides in Cape Elizabeth with his wife Susan and their three children, Randall, James and Elizabeth.

Jeffrey D. Inman, grandson of founders Frank Hobbs, Sr., and Elizabeth Hobbs, completed his national and state board exams and a medical procedures exam in 2000 and is a full-time funeral director at Hobbs Funeral Home.
Jeff has worked nearly 20 years in the funeral business and previously served at Hobbs as an apprentice. He represents the third generation of the Hobbs family. As a licensed funeral director, he is responsible for arrangements, preparations, and other aspects of memorialization.
Jeff holds an associate degree in environmental technology from Southern Maine Technical College and his degree in mortuary science from Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., where he was inducted into the National Morticians Fraternity based on his high grade point average.
He is a member of the South Portland Lions Club, Portland Elks, Hiram Lodge, and St. Albans Episcopal Church. He is a graduate of Deering High School and makes his home in South Portland with his wife, Cecilia, and son Lucas and daughter Cara Marie.

~ Randall Hobbs
Randall B. Hobbs is the grandson of founders Frank H. Hobbs, Sr. and Elizabeth A. Hobbs. His father, Jeffrey R. Hobbs, is president and owner. Randall is a licensed Director with a bachelor’s degree in management, a minor in psychology from Roger Williams, as well as a degree in Funeral Sciences. While at school, he served his apprenticeship at Hobbs Funeral Home. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, in the top 10%, while maintaining his scholarship and earning his induction into the International Honors Society. Before entering the family business, Randall worked with a local landscaping company while simultaneously working as a sales associate with a local furniture store; before that he started his own local landscaping company to help finance his education.
Randall has made his home in South Portland, with his wife Kathleen, daughters Ella and Betty and dogs Mindy and Trevor. He has been serving the local community at the Hobbs Funeral Home for over 10 years, and values the relationships he has built with the community.
I have been involved in the funeral industry for around ten years – graduating cum laude with an associate degree in mortuary science in 2015. In high school I wanted to pursue a career as a forensic pathologist, but life had a different plan for me. I chose work over college and pursued a variety of interests. I've held numerous titles over the years, such as EMT (ambulance), emergency room technician (in the hospital), chauffeur, corrections officer, and my favorite of all – mom.
Life’s twists and turns led me back to the mortuary side of things and I came to rest in this field. This is therapeutic, solemn and a time to offer true and unconditional kindness to another human - one who has no means of repaying you – the purest form of decency, compassion, warmth and respect.
The energy here at Hobbs is phenomenal. I immediately felt accepted, welcomed and appreciated. A true family business, not only treating others as they wish to be treated themselves but treating all as part of their extended family.
Desiree grew up in the Adirondack Park in Northern New York. She moved to Maine after college in 2017. Since living here, she has gained funeral experience by working as a crematory technician and finishing her funeral apprenticeship in 2024.
Desiree currently resides in Casco with her husband and two Great Danes, Shelby and Kurt. She enjoys watching sci-fi movies, going to concerts, renovating her home, and spending time with her twin sister.
"I came to Hobbs Funeral Home directly after graduating from Scarborough High School. I wanted to pursue a career helping people in my community during their time of need. Hobbs welcomed me into their work family and I know I'm in the best place I can be in order to fulfill my goal. I grew up watching my mom take in every animal that needed a home, no matter what the circumstances. Growing up in this type of environment has taught me that all life has value and meaning, and I am glad to work in a career that allows me to help people, no matter what the circumstance. I make my home in Scarborough, and enjoy being part of the local community."
Stephen is a Native of Portland and Gorham Maine. He Attended Gorham High School, Landmark College, Southern Maine Community Collage and the University of Southern Maine. He graduated with a degree in Political Science and Finance. Stephen currently resides in Old Orchard Beach. Stephen has worked locally, but when Randall asked him to join the funeral home in 2023, he couldn’t refuse. We all want to do something that makes a difference in this world, and working at Hobbs fulfills this need to help people. It also allows him to work closely with family. He will be working with Randall, his brother-in-law and Kathleen Hobbs, his sister.
Kathleen is a Native of Portland and Gorham Maine. She attended Gorham High School and Southern Maine Community College. Before her career in the funeral industry, she was a surgical technologist in the Neuro cluster at Maine Medical Center. She became a surgical tech because she wanted to help people. She is excited to work in the funeral industry for the same reason. She has been working at Hobbs Funeral Home since 2018 as a part time funeral attendant, and while she loved her position at Maine Medical Center, she decided that joining the family business full time is her calling. She is excited to be directly involved with helping people, and she is excited to be part of the family legacy extending back generations. Kathleen and Randall Hobbs met July 28th 2017, were married on July 22nd, 2023 and reside in South Portland with their daughters Ella and Betty, and their dogs Mindy and Trevor.
